Popcorn was shot by a small, international crew on location in central Kansas with local, non-actors. It is the first production in Wilson, KS since 1973’s
Paper Moon Dir: Peter Bogdanovich.

The film was created and presented as a
master’s thesis at Chapman University.

Popcorn made its festival debut in Fall 2019 at Louisville’s International Festival of Film. It won the “Best Heartland College Student Short” and the “Audience Choice” award at the Kansas City FilmFest International in April 2020.
